Case Study: Salon Grace

WebDesignToo Case Study - Ashley Becoming Salon Grace

A complete brand and website transformation for a growing salon

Background

Back in 2012, Ashley’s Hair Designs was a one-chair operation tucked away in Palm Harbor. The old site, like many small business websites from that era, was built on a rigid template: dark background, boxed layout, minimal images, and a handful of service blurbs. It got the job done, but it didn’t feel like Ashley—someone known locally for her warmth, creativity, and hair artistry.

Fast forward a decade, and Ashley’s business had grown far beyond that original footprint. She’d expanded into a full-service salon with a team of stylists, a new name—Salon Grace—and a broader mission: to make people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. She needed a digital presence that reflected that evolution.

The Challenge

The old website was functional but dated. Its dark, heavy layout clashed with the new salon’s bright, inviting aesthetic. The messaging still centered on “Ashley” rather than the team, and the site lacked the technical foundation for modern marketing tools like analytics tracking, search optimization, or appointment integrations.

Our challenge was twofold:

  1. Redefine the brand identity from a solo stylist to a boutique salon.
  2. Build a site that felt welcoming, fresh, and aligned with the atmosphere clients experience when they walk through Salon Grace’s doors.

The Approach

We started by revisiting the story. The name “Salon Grace” reflects the atmosphere Ashley and her team create—relaxed, elegant, and uplifting. Every design choice had to carry that feeling.

Color palette: Inspired by natural tones—soft ivory, muted greens, and a touch of gold. The palette moved away from the moody blacks and grays of the old site, creating warmth and light.

Typography: Clean and modern sans-serifs replaced script-heavy fonts, improving legibility while maintaining a feminine touch.

Photography: Instead of stock models, we featured real clients and stylists. The imagery focused on natural light and soft textures to convey authenticity and care.

Structure: The new homepage introduces the brand story right away: “Transform Your Hair and Let Your Personality Shine.” Below that, we layered content sections to speak directly to different audiences—returning clients, new visitors, and those curious about extensions or color work.

Each service category now lives within its own section, with pricing displayed transparently and strategically placed calls to action like Book Now or Request an Appointment to guide users naturally through the page.

The Design Evolution

Comparing the two versions side by side tells the full story:

The Technical Side

The new site was built to scale. It includes:

  • SEO optimization tailored for Palm Harbor and surrounding areas.
  • Integrated Google Analytics and conversion tracking.
  • Responsive design for all devices (critical for a salon audience that books on mobile).
  • Secure form submissions and simplified client intake through embedded scheduling tools.

We also set up editable templates for Ashley’s team, so they can easily update seasonal promotions or add new stylists without needing a developer each time.

The Result

Within the first month of launch, Salon Grace saw a 42% increase in online booking inquiries and a noticeable uptick in engagement from new visitors. More importantly, the team finally felt proud of how their brand looked online—it matched the atmosphere they’d worked so hard to create in person.

Ashley summed it up best:

“The new site finally feels like us. It’s fresh, confident, and easy for our clients to use. WebDesignToo didn’t just redesign a website—they helped us redefine our brand.”

Key Takeaways

  • A good redesign starts with understanding why the business has changed, not just what it offers.
  • Consistency between the in-person experience and online presence builds trust fast.
  • Modern salon websites should balance design with usability—clients want beauty and convenience at once.
