Ask Pixel: WTF does WCAG stand for?
Learn what WCAG is, why website accessibility matters, and how accessible design helps make your website easier for everyone to use.
Hey Pixel! With tools like Google’s AI overview, is SEO still important?
(Also, what IS SEO? 😅)
That’s a good question! SEO (“Search Engine Optimization”) is how high your website “ranks” in a search engine. Some popular search engines include Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and even YouTube.
You use SEO on your website and social media to help you show up and rank higher on searches!
Alright, cool cool. But shouldn’t my business just show up anyways? How can I be #1?
Your business should, in theory, show up when you search for your business name. But you do need to complete a few steps. One of the biggest ways to rank higher on search engines is by having an SEO-rich website!
To get to very first spot in search results, you typically need to pay for ads with that search engine.
So I basically have to pay-to-play? What a bummer 🙁
Not necessarily! When you organically create SEO-rich content, you will still show up as #1… just after the ads.
Oh, okay. So SEO isn’t a waste then? What about the Google AI overview, how do I rank there?
Organic SEO is never a waste!
Google’s AI overview is still changing, evolving, and learning. At WebDesignToo, we don’t use generative AI to replace work, but we acknowledge that AI does have its uses.
You’ll see a lot of internet personalities give you “tHe bEsT wAy” to rank with Google’s AI. But the truth is, there isn’t a “best way” right now.
Heard! Makes sense. So, do I need to continue to do… or make… SEO…? And how can I do that?
The best, organic ways to optimize your website and content for search engines is by creating blog posts relavent to your business, creating SEO-rich titles for your content, and posting frequently on social media.
Ultimately, SEO is a long-term game. Let’s talk about that on another day, though!
